Blogged About: Helmut Lang

Helmut Lang Resort Sneak Peak

Helmut Lang Resort 2011 Sneak Preview

Okay I know this is a bit early, but I just loved this shirt when I saw Helmut Lang’s Resort Collection in their showroom this month and now one of my favorite fashion bloggers, Norwegian model Hanneli Mustaparta has blogged about it! She photographed it as one of  her favorites as well (see below).

This shirt is amazing as are all of the shirting in the Helmut Lang Collection. It has such a beachy feel to it – the fabric is slighty nubly and worn in. We are going to have to wait quite a few months before it arrives in store, but no worries I will be sure to reblog about how awesome it again!

A perfect pairing with her Elizabeth and James shorts, Cameron Diaz has styled our favorite blazer of all time: the Rag + Bone Seersucker Blazer over a tank, the shorts, and cute wedges. This is such an easy, chic, and attainable look for our favorite seersucker piece this summer!

Metal Mania: Pewter Peep Toe

silverpythonpeep

What an amazing shoe! We love the edged up rock n’ roll appeal of this pewter python peep toe. The python is painted silver on a black background. I see this immediately with white jeans during the summer, black or charcoal denim/leggings as well, and of course this would be an amazing statement piece to any black dress. This shoe is super sexy – there is not much needed to say about it aside from the fact that I can’t stop looking at it! Love the built in platform, the edgy metallic texture, and the comfort!!!

Lauren Conrad was photographed in 3.1 Phillip Lim’s navy jumpsuit at an event this week. We love how she paired the jumpsuit with caramel colored shoes and matching belt – beautiful!

Style Inspiration: Overalls with an edge

Today was an exciting day when UPS came in to deliver our latest Rag & Bone/JEAN collection. Why? Well aside from the fact that their pieces rock anyway, this shipment had one of my favorite denim pieces of the season: OVERALLS!!! I know that the term overalls almost immediately sends one into a trip down memory lane recounting all the fun Oshkosh overalls in various colors that were staples of our childhood wardrobes. I have always loved overalls – of course previously I was never able to find chic overalls that I can wear now. Well, designers Marcus Wainwright and David Neville of Rag & Bone have accomplished the impossible.  Their overalls are so beyond chic (you know that summer style I didn’t try hard and look absolutely beautiful-type chic). The wash is a darker indigo (a bit washed in but not too dark or too dark: just perfect) with x-back straps in the back and a rolled short bottom. There are so many different ways that I am going to wear these overalls. Jennifer Aniston gives overalls the quintessential beach girl chic style approach (left) and a model (right) adds tights and a gray t-shirt for a bit of downtown edge. I think I am even going to pair my Helmut Lang black blazer over it for a bit of added structure. Thank you Rag & Bone for this super fun new addition to our wardrobes!

Sweet Seersucker: Rag + Bone

Rag + Bone Seersucker Jacket

Rag + Bone Seersucker Raw Edge Blazer

Summer is arriving daily and what is the quintessential summer chic fabric? Seersucker of course! I adore seersucker and am so surprised designers don’t choose to work with it more often. The fabric is so refreshing, chic, and easy to pair up with almost any look. My favorite seersucker piece this summer is Rag + Bone’s Raw Edge Seersucker Blazer. It has a bit of an undone or worn in look to it, which of course lends to it obvious Rag + Bone identity, but also is perfect for a chic – “I’m not trying to hard” beachy summer look. It looks great paired over their strapless white denim corset dress, denim shorts, white shorts, our Rag + Bone white skinny jeans, khaki or white pants, and of course any denim pant. This jacket is the perfect summer blazer – for those staying in town to enjoy the season and also oh-so-perfect for any of our Cape Cod/Martha’s Vineyard customers. Thank you once again Rag + Bone for bringing us another great essentially chic piece that we will live in and love!

I love this sandal from Loeffler Randall (ooohh that rhymes!). I wear it with jeans just like she did as well as with sundresses all the time. So cool and super comfy. These are the shoes that no matter what condition my feet are in from the hot weather or whatever I wore the day before, this shoe feels and looks great.

Skirting the Season: Marc by Marc Jacobs

Marc By Marc Jacobs Blue Pleat Skirt

Marc By Marc Jacobs Blue Collage Pleat Skirt

I was so inspired when this skirt arrived in the store from Marc by Marc Jacobs. It is the perfect skirt for this season and what is even more fabulous is that I can wear it to work AND also on the weekends. Being in the city quite frequently as of recent, most of the women whose style I have admired on the street, have been pairing casual tees (T by Alexander Wang, Monrow, Helmut Lang) with these fun above-the-knee skirts.  This is definitely one of my favorite looks for the season – uber-feminine with a bit of nonchalant ease and romanticism. I have loved skirts for years and this new Marc skirt is the perfect addition to my skirt wardrobe. The other day I paired it with my white racerback tank from T by Alexander Wang and my silver python flats. It was the perfect weekend outfit. If only I had happened upon a farmer’s market or had the time to stroll through town, it is the perfect running errands outfit. The week before I paired it up for work with my navy Smythe blazer, Elizabeth and James black faux python high heel gladiators, and a white Elizabeth and James button down. The perfect work outfit for the season – tailored, yet a bit of summer ease thrown in to balance the seriousness of the tailoring.

I can see myself wearing this skirt A LOT this summer. It is so completely Marc, so totally relevant, and most of all so much fun.
