Obsession: The Bootie (The Wendy Bootie by Loeffler Randall)

Loeffler Randall Scrunch Bootie

Loeffler Randall Wendy Bootie

Just arrived: Loeffler Randall’s knit scrunch bootie! Everyone has been loving it today + I am definitely in love with this uberfunctional and comfortable bootie.  The knit can be rolled down, pulled up to knee height, or scrunched around the calf – over a pair of tights, skinny jeans, or leggings, these boots are definitely going to be your best friend on a chilly day. They are the perfect excuse to bring a little of our 80’s legwarmer loving style into Fall ‘09: except this time we won’t regret it, our feet will be super-happy, and of course admired by passerby’s!

Helmut Lang: Inspires.

Wang's Spider Lace Dress

Alexander Wang's Spider Lace Dress

Industrial, Modern Chic. This is Helmut Lang’s design legacy.  He made it fashionable first and today it is the look above all others that has been seen on the Fall ‘09 runway from designers such as Alexander Wang, 3.1 Phillip Lim, Elizabeth + James, Rag + Bone, and of course his namesake, Helmut Lang.  It defines what we had blogged about earlier this month: the alpha woman.  No one messes with her, the look isn’t fussy: clean, minimal, hard edged, and sophisticated.  Alexander Wang’s spider lace dress (which we just got in and is currently in our window) is featured on Style.com as one of the Fall ‘09 looks that epitomizes the Helmut Lang aesthetic of course with a lot of Wang thrown in too: he is this design generation’s phenom. Check out some of the other looks from some of our designers that reference Helmut Lang’s aesthetic: http://tinyurl.com/lwj2lc (click on the slideshow).

Introducing//Elizabeth + James Boots!

elizabeth + james suede boot

Okay so what are MK and Ashley Olsen not super talented at because these boots are gorgeous and much to my surprise extremely comfortable!  Whether you like them or not, no one can deny that they are one of the most talented (if not the most), involved, and intelligent “celebrity” designers out there.  Check out the incredible spread they had in the New York Times Style section yesterday:  http://bit.ly/T3O3T .   Now let’s seriously worship this boot for a minute: the shape looks great on the leg with the pintuck detail, the button, the built in platform, and sculpted heel.  This is probably going to be the first boot I will wear before I probably should be breaking knee high boots out for the season: so basically I might be wearing them next week!  It looks great with the E+J leggings and one of their boyfriend button downs, yet it also looks insane with a pair of jeans tucked inside, a crisp helmut lang white shirt, finished with an E+J blazer.

elizabeth + james pewter metallic bootie

We’re not done worshipping yet.  I wasn’t ready to commit to a bootie last year: everyone’s consensus seemed to be that last years boots in general from most designers were not amazing by far. Designers really went for it this fall – we had the toughest time choosing the best riding boot, bootie, denim boot, sexy stiletto boot, etc. but of course we chose and edited and this bootie was one of our favorites and of course it also is from Elizabeth + James.  It has a pewter metallic finish to the suede and slips right on the foot.  The fit is great and the comfort is superb: from tights and a dress to stirrup leggings (oh yes they are in and we love the ones we have) and a long tunic – these booties are definitely going to be getting a lot of play for this season.  Thank you MK and Ashley for bringing us incredibly designed boots at great price points: we can pick up two or more for the price of some of the other boots out there and we are actually going to wear these A LOT!!

outerwear obsession: Hanii Y

Hanii Y's Plaid Shawl Collar Coat

All of us at glow are obsessed year after year with Hanii Y’s outerwear and we know how anxious everyone has been to see their Fall ‘09 collection. It arrived today and their signature coat for this season is AMAZING!! It is a plaid tweed coat with greens, blues, purple, pink, yellows, black, and chocolate: so basically it will be the go to coat over anything this fall/winter. I can see it over a chic black dress: which I actually have it on the mannequin with right now and I think it is so quintessentially Hanii Y: chic, modern, great lines and of course amazing fabric choice (just the right weight – it can definitely be worn this fall before it gets cold out but will keep the cold out come January when we are all freezing!).  Hanii Y amazes us year after year with their incredible jackets and coats. This is just one style of many that we received today. I could go on post after post about the outerwear we just got in from them but picking out a favorite is just too tough!!

Loving Life with Loeffler:

Loeffler Randall Fall 2009 Boot

Loeffler Randall Fall 2009 Boot

We are proud to introduce Loeffler Randall’s Fall 2009 collection!  Our favorite so far and the favorite among many industry editors this season?  The Marti (pictured above).  Loeffler Randall evolved their best-selling Matilde boot into an upgraded kick-butt version for Fall ‘09.  We love the buckles against the sleek black leather.  LR read our minds and is giving us exactly what we wanted next from them: a little in our face + very sexy + the LR design and comfort elements we have grown to love.  Thank you Jessie Randall!

fall 2009: alpha woman

awang_leather

This fall is one of my favorite fall seasons in years!  The silhouettes, colors, and fabrics are very bold.  Leather is a key player for the season – and this time around it is not going away.  This fall/winter women are going to be the power dresser. She is in charge, confident of her body and who she is.  Black, white, grey, red, blue, nude, and hunter green are the prevalent hues designers have chosen.  There is nothing meek about styling for Fall ’09: men beware.
