February and September are “It” months in the Fashion industry. For buyers, it begins with shoe market, then Fashion Week, followed by the feeding frenzy that is buyer’s market. This is when we all run around from showroom appointment to showroom appointment buying what will be delivered in-store to consumers some 4-6 months later. (Cue the “Chariots of Fire”). To us buyers, this is the dichotomy of the Fashion “present”. It is a dichotomy because in our minds what is “now” is what we are seeing in the showrooms and on the runways, yet what is arriving in store now to be merchandised for the consumer to see as “now” is what we have viewed in the showrooms as our “now” 6 months ago. There are two fashion worlds for buyers during market months – the now that is what we are seeing for the first time as well as the excitement of selling current season merchandise to the client. Our hard work and painstaking editing is being channeled in so many directions that Fashion has replaced the oxygen we breath and the CO2 that we exhale. It is an exciting time to say the least. The unnecessary pile of paperwork that we bring home with us day after day rivals that of teachers’ and lawyers’ workloads. Hectic, yes. Sleepless, yes. Maddening…slightly. Amazing….OF COURSE. This is why we do what we do.
With that said, here we are again. Shoe market is upon us. Spring arrivals are coming in the door daily and Fashion Week invites and RSVP’s have been dispatched. Let the games begin. What will February hold – stay tuned to find out. I can say that for Spring Collections, it is the strongest spring in years! The shoes are GORGEOUS! The clothes are so fun and FRESH! The colors are WOW! Here is a peek at the Ports 1961 showroom last September for what will arrive in the store over the next few months.

Happy 2012! We are so excited for some of the great things we will be bringing you this season at glow. Pre-Spring as well as Spring 2012 are incredibly strong this year. Some of our favorites are the pops of colors that are being featured in accessories (such as the 3.1 Phillip Lim handbag at left). This will be our strongest accessory season to date – the selection is simply stunning and we will keep all of you in the know as some of our favorites arrive. Denim remains bright as well with some fabulous colored denim continuing to make a strong statement and some great solid tanks and cami’s in vibrant hues as well. Some of the must-have colors for the season: aqua, royal blue, coral, neons, red, green, and stripes! The wedge is making an incredible statement this upcoming season. We can’t wait to show you our favorite wedges and other gorgeous shoes in some of these vibrant colors! Long maxi dresses, fabulous prints, easy cottons, chic jerseys, cropped pants, and cuffed shorts – this spring is sure to please all in an chic easy colorful way. For those of you set to break out of the winter on a fabulous vacation over the next few months, we have deliveries arriving daily starting this week of pre-spring. Come glow with us!

Rag & Bone's Devere Duffle in Coated Cotton
Our favorite travel accessories are always from Rag & Bone. Not only are the price points fabulous, but they look just so cool. No crazy logos just a simple tonal pressed moniker in the bottom of each piece, the collection’s new Devere Duffle is our favorite new “whatever” bag. I say “whatever” in the sense that it can be used for so many different bags. An impromptu overnight bag, a weekend bag, a serious traveling bag, or even a super chic gym bag. The list could go on and on. There are two different colorways in this bag that we love. The first is the black coated cotton bag above, or as we like to call it the supermodel bag. It is seriously one of those basic, but not basic, bags that supermodels are always shown wearing while walking through the airport or something. Easy, not obnoxious, yet supercool. For those who like to add a bit of color to their travel accessories, the navy pintstripe trimmed in luggage colored leather (below) is equally chic. It has a much more Hamptons appeal than the black. It would be great to throw in the suitcase collapsed for a warm vacation this winter and use it for a fabulous beach bag once there. Whatever the use you come up with for these bags, they are not going to let you down when you grab them to use on the go! Not just for the jetsetter. Thanks Rag & Bone!

We LOVE the new shearling Moto Boot from Sigerson Morrison! Where to start. First of all, the grey suede color is amazing – so cool and also the natural rubber bottom is perfect for the salty sidewalks and streets our feet tread on all winter long. Lined with black shearling, your toes and feet will stay cozy no matter how cold the temperature drops outside. The boot can be folded over down to the bottom buckle for a more casual apres-ski style. We always get great use out our moto boots and now to have a pair of moto boots lined with shearling and a rubber bottom – bring on winter!!!! These boots are going to get a lot of love!!!

We are certainly getting a taste of what’s to come, weather-wise, this upcoming winter. It is snowing, sleeting, raining, and just plain old terrible out. This of course means that for those of you who still have not changed your closets over, today is THE day to do a good old fashioned overhaul. It takes time and is certainly laborious, but what a better way to spend the day indoors than prepping your wardrobe for the winter. Locate your gloves, hats, scarves, boots and take inventory. What has seen better days and should be donated or plain old tossed if it is beyond salvaging and what still has some life in it. Remember: fold knits and keep away from anything that they can catch on. The same goes for scarves. Treat your clothes well and they will love you for years. The same goes for boots – keep them upright and stuffed to keep their shafts in shape or keep them covered in their boxes. At the end of today: take note of what you still need and keep in mind that our “Layering and Luxe” Event ends tomorrow which is a great event for scooping up knits for the season! Also, we have new deliveries arriving every week through November!
